Vermeil

I'm excited to announce that my rings will be available to order in Vermeil starting next week! What is vermeil? It is a very thick layer of gold plating over sterling silver. The plating will last much longer than traditionally plated jewelry, and there are rarely issues with metal sensitivity because of the sterling silver core.

To be considered vermeil, the gold must be at least 10 carat (42%) and be at least 2.5 micrometres thick. In the US, sterling silver covered with a base metal (such as nickel) and plated with gold cannot be sold as vermeil without disclosing that it contains base metal.

Here's two examples I recently plated. Are you interested in a ring for yourself? They will be available online next week, or feel free to email me with a stone or shape request!
